Poeteia ✦ Poems by Nastia Dziubych UA

Opposite sides

We live on opposite sides of the Street

On the different sides of what's right

We could try to adjust and to fit

But it's something about to fight.

Poem about a Dragon

To be a mother means to become a dragon

From a gentle lady behind a tower's wall

Reborn and burn to yell with angry tone

By walking around a house spraying firefall.

I used to be a mother of a dragon

I've tried to run what cannot be controlled

The endless fightings turn to peace so seldom

Since 2012 – when a child of mine was born.

* 2012 is Chinese zodiac Dragon year

Bedtime poem

My dragons fell asleep

And silence fell around

Straight to the dragons’ feet

A cat ran up and calm laid down.

Warm April Night

In the warm April night

Lilac smells in the darkness

We are hurrying up

Under air syrens

To the shelter-parking that

We are used to hiding at

To wait out the attack

Guessing when we can come back.

If that time we’ll get back.

The Only Life

We live the only life we have

Disrupted sleep is

What we have instead,

And interrupted dreams to add

It's not what you deserve

But get.

Poem about a Door

I haven't seen that door before

So should I knock? Or to ignore?

I go hunting to the store

I still can't get used to 'less is more'.

Friendship is a Luxury

You really need some friends

At least you have to try

Friendship is a luxury

After 35.

Friendship is a mystery

When worlds have to collide

Emerging something new at all

And causeless joys revive.

I want them back

My rose-tinted glasses!

I want to be a friend

That counts and passes

The test of time and

Circumstances…

My friend with coffee in a hand

You are my tribe.

You are my band.

Oh, yes, I have to text you back.

Poem about the Future

Future is exciting

Future is uncertain

I hope to keep doing

Things that really matter.

Heroes of Tales

We all are heroes of tales

The good ones, the evils as well.

We are just book and film characters

That have our stories to tell.

But who is the Author?

Who is in charge?

Destiny? Fortune of any of us?

Who did and who does

Write this “Once upon a time”

Is it thing to discuss? Or

Unique storyline with

My role so small…

We have no free will at all.

All magic comes with a price, so

Sometimes try to think twice.

Poem about the Unicorns

What does it mean today

To manage to be brave?

When to leave, when to stay,

When to hide in a cave...

When it’s all over the place

All the mess you to face

It’s normal to feel not ok

It’s ok to feel lonely

Because, you know,

The unicorns can live

In chaos only.

Poem about the sea

If to live, then by the sea

If to love, then today

To be grateful to Fate

To want more don’t be afraid.

If to have then a dignity

Learn to run and to swim

Send to hell f✴ng infinity

Today and now willing to win.

A lady from a foggy world

I want to introduce one lady
Who comes from bright and foggy world
She lets all creatures be quite lazy
But as for me I want to work.

A Fall.

'2000s

Don't leave

Don’t leave me on my own

With sad my thoughts because

My mind drives me mad, my soul

Desires contact, but the choice is yours...

Time is up

Time is up.

We do less than we did,

And still used to rise after fall.

What if they're right about it –

There is no time at all.

Spring traditions in Kyiv

We have pretty strange traditions in spring
This one knocks off track for a long, not awesome, -
When the clocks are changed in April for an hour! For what?
And in May we go to enjoy magnolias blossom.

Poem about Little Froggy

Mummy was sleeping
Taking a nap
Suddenly froggy
Touched her leg.

What was a scream!
What was a shout!

If it's a bad dream
Then she'd better wake out
Of such a nightmare
It must be way out.

She was just shaken up
Then found out what's up.
Breath deep, not to yell
Better hug and kiss well…

Little froggies grow so fast
We wish childness longer to last
A little bit more, just a little bit longer
Little hand in our hands holding...

To warm little feet
To forgot how it feels

When it's neat in a room
But loving can bloom

Where a kid is desired
And loved and hugged
And mom isn't tired
- that's where to start.

You don't have to be perfect
Don't forget to have fun
Froggy will be happier
With a well-slept mom.

The one who is listening,
Whatever to meet,
When rainy and foggy

Still humming:

- I'm here, my froggy,

you’re just getting

cold feet.

* Get cold feet - suddenly become too frightened or nervous to do something you had planned to do

Poeteia - the modern Ukrainian poetess from Kyiv

Hi! I'm Nastia, from Kyiv, can called myself as a modern poetess, but some years ago, my friend came up with Poeteia, so it's my pseudonym since then.

In 2025 I published my first book with poems, in three languages, for adults and kids, and launched this web-site poems-ua.com.

Also I've got a blog on Blogger - but it has mostly the same content.
